I remember one of my best friends in high school filling a tupperware bin up in cold water from the hose while I sat inside freezing - ready to throw me into the warm pool to feel the contrast. He couldn't wait to share this feeling with all of us. This memory has stayed with me for decades as I often reflect on how much contrast I feel in life. This full spectrum shift is often what brings us to a contentment with the wide range between. Without contrast, life feels more difficult ironically. This broad space between is where gratitude and warmth is found.
