Strangers stop me often; certain we have met somewhere before. It happens so regularly that I've stopped being surprised by it. I've come to believe they aren't recognizing my face at all, but something less visible - a warmth carried in the body, a quality of presence that feels, somehow, already known.

I Feel Like I Know You began as a study of a tree and its reflection. Branches reaching down, their mirror image reaching up to meet them. As I worked, the painting became something else: a quiet wonder at the connections we share that have nothing to do with blood or memory. The familiar stranger. The soul that feels like home before you've learned their name.
